Bethlen Communities Hospice Needs Volunteers

WANT TO ADD MORE MEANING TO YOUR LIFE?  Hospice workers assist with end-of-life care for persons and their families in their own home or in a care facility. Hospice volunteers are trained to assist the hospice team in many ways.  Volunteers provide friendly visits, sometimes staying with the patient while the caregiver is out of the home. They are good listerners who provide emotional and spiritual support, run errands, read to the patient, pray together, help organize family photos and mementos, watch TV together. Sometimes just being present or holding a hand is what is needed. Some volunteers help with clerical duties in our offices or make bereavement support phone calls to families.
WHO CAN BE A HOSPICE VOLUNTEER?  Anyone over 18 with the "gift of time" to offer, those who have seen hospice in action and want to give back, anyone who wants to be part of a team of professionals who believe that, "You matter because you are, and you matter until the last moment of your life. We will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live fully and comfortably until that moment comes."

Hungarian and PA Flags Donated

While visiting his mother Martha Gage at the Bethlen Home, Rick and Patti Fitzpatrick of Derry saw that the Pennsylvania  and Hungarian flags flying outside had been badly damaged by the recent winter weather and needed to be replaced. As a gesture of gratitude for the loving care provided to his mom, they recently donated the two replacement flags. Everyone has been so friendly and taken such good care of my mother here that we wanted to say thank you in some small way said Rick.  Mother requested to come to the Bethlen Home and has been very happy here.  Mike Walker, administrator and Greg Bakich, Facilities Maintenance Director gratefully accepted the donations.
