1. How
often is the training program offered?
The Nurse Aide Training Program is typically offered two to
four
times annually.
2. How
long does the training program last?
The program consists of 120
hours of instruction. It runs three days a week for six
weeks (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and some Saturdays).
This
includes classroom, hands-on practice, lab, and clinical
hours. Hours are divided over a six-week period. A
course calendar is given to students upon
acceptance to the program.
3. What are "lab hours"?
All patient care skills
are practiced in a lab-like setting (lab hours) until students demonstrate
competence and confidence with each skill. Only then are
the skills practiced in a clinical setting (clinical
hours).
4. What are "clinical hours"?
Clinical hours are scheduled to provide
training in direct resident care under supervision of a
qualified nurse instructor.
5. What is the cost?
Bethlen Communities
assumes all costs associated with the program. In
addition, students are paid minimum wage during training
hours.
Students are provided with all
materials needed to learn both theory and skills.
6. What do I wear?
Students are provided with a dress code during orientation,
but in general are required
to wear uniform scrubs during clinical experience.
These scrubs must be any shade of plain brown, and are available at
online and at retail stores. Uniform cost is the
student's responsibility.
7. Will I have a job at Bethlen Home when I'm done with the program?
This program prepares a student to work as a Nurse Aide
anywhere in the state of Pennsylvania.
Completion of this state-approved Nurse Aide Training
Program with a passing grade qualifies the student to sit
for the state NA registry exam.
Staffing needs at Bethlen Home vary; however, if jobs are available when
the course is complete, qualified candidates may bid on
those jobs.
